Window vista problem please help?

So the other night we had a thunder storm really big so I decided to turn off the computer. The following night I turn it on and for the life of me it will not start up. It's at this black screen that says windows had improper shut down. So it give me a list of ways to start the computer and everyone I hit it does not let me into the main menu. It also say that you have to insert a disc but when I insert it nothing happens. Can anyone help me?
