Were you aware of that distinction?

The Sanhedrin was a a standing body, an organization that combined governing and judicial functions in accord with the degree of self-government allowed the Jews by their Roman overlords. The members of the Sanhedrin were the High priest, the scribes, in general the Sadducees, not the Pharesses. The Pharesses accused Jesus of not observing the Law and yet they have not trialed or asked for his crucifixion. They were the teachers of the Law as Jesus was but not involved in the government of the temple. Under no cirstances the Pharesses would, at Pover time, Friday and Saturday , be anywhere but in their homes. The Sadducees were the "culprits" who trialed and shouted for Jesus to by crucified.
