When young women stop having their periods it's usually due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS. Birth control is a great treatment if you are not trying to conceive. You should talk to the doctor and get your mom to come around. Not treating it increases your risk of ovarian and uterine cancers.
