We are judged every life we live. So when we leave this mortal body we will immediately be judged on all of our activities for that life. If one has done very sinful activities the superintendents of death will take ones subtle body out of the physical body and down to Yamarajas Hell and then the judgment will go on there. If one thinks of God at the time of death they will not take another material birth again, and return to the eternal kingdom of God. (though it is not so easy to do because we generally have so many material attachments especially to this body.
