Are Christians trained from birth not to trust their own judgment but to follow their church leader’s advice?

If a person is told that they are naturally a sinful creature who is inevitably going to make the wrong choices because they have this inherently sinful nature, this is not really going to make them self reliant, right? It’s going to make them too scared to trust their own judgment and this is just what the leaders of Christian organizations want, right? They want sheep, don’t they? They want mindless cattle who spend their days grazing and then give their milk, their fleece and their offspring to the church leaders, right?
